Re: Global Data Synchronization Update

As of today, Albertsons, Associated Food Stores, Associated Wholesale Grocers, SUPERVALU, Unified Western Grocers, Wal-Mart and Wegmans Food Markets are endorsing the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) and request that suppliers use the GDSN when synchronizing their data with us. As a global, internet-based initiative, it will enable trading partners to quickly and efficiently exchange supply chain data that is accurate and compliant with universally supported EAN.UCC System standards.
Retailers and suppliers are currently synchronizing data within the Global Data Synchronization Network utilizing the GS1 Global RegistryTM. These trading partners are receiving value from exchanging key supply chain information in the GDSN. After a few weeks, trading partners experience efficiencies and savings by reducing time spent on data maintenance and order processing.
The GDSN vision is based on a centralized GS1 Global Registry that connects to numerous interoperable Data Pools around the world. This enables standard data to be synchronized between trading partners on a near real time basis. The network allows for one single point of entry so that trading partners only need to join one certified Data Pool, anywhere in the world, to communicate with any other trading partner in the GDSN.
What the GDSN means to our suppliers:
Studies show significant savings on both the supply and demand side. Areas of improvement have been identified specifically in new item set up, logistics, invoicing, speed to market, and data accuracy. We are utilizing the 1SYNCTM Data Pool for data synchronization in the GDSN. We ask that you contact 1SYNC, who has a proven ability to implement our trading partners and a dedication to standards-based data synchronization, or any other GS1 GDSN-certified Data Pool to connect with us.

1b) Contact the GS1 GDSN certified Data Pool of your choice.
2) Begin cleansing and loading data for your company’s items.
3) Be prepared to synchronize data for all current items in the food, hardlines, health and beauty care(HBC)and audio/video product categories.
Synchronizing data utilizing the GDSN is now an integral part of supply chain business processes across the globe. We are asking you to join us in our support of the GDSN.
