GS1

GS1 is a neutral, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the design and implementation of global standards, technologies and solutions to improve the efficiency of supply and demand chains. It was formed from the joining together of EAN International and UCC, the Uniform Code Council, and is today the most widely used supply chain standards system in the world. GS1 has more than 30 years experience and is a fully integrated global organization of 104 Member Organizations (MO) representing over a million companies doing business across 145 countries.

GS1 US is the national implementation organization for the United States for the GS1 System. GS1 US™ is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the adoption and implementation of standards-based, global supply chain solutions. GS1 US is the MO of GS1 that represents more than 260,000 companies across the United States. Under its auspices, GS1 US operates three wholly owned subsidiaries, EPCglobal US™, RosettaNet, and 1SYNC™. GS1 US operates in over 25 sectors and industries ranging from fast moving consumer goods to healthcare, transportation, defense and aerospace.

GS1 US manages the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code® (UNSPSC®) for the United Nations Development Programme. EPCglobal Inc is a joint venture of GS1 US and GS1. GS1 US-based solutions, including business processes, XML standards, EDI transaction sets, and the bar code identification standards of the GS1 System®, are currently used by more than one million member companies worldwide. GS1 US is headquartered in Lawrenceville, NJ USA.
